A VICTORIAN SILVER SOUP TUREEN AND COVER
MAKER'S MARK OF PAUL STORR, LONDON, 1838

Lobed circular, on four scroll feet headed by acanthus leaves and oak branches, the two reeded open handles terminating in acanthus, with a gadrooned rim and acanthus and shells at intervals, the fluted domed cover surmounted by a cast oak branch loop handle, the side engraved with a coat-of-arms, crest and motto within a foliate scroll cartouche, the crest also engraved on the cover, marked on side, cover and finial--length over handles 14 1/4in. (36.2cm.)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Barkworth of Whyton of Yorkshire impaling those of Sandbach of Woodlands and Whitfield, Lancashire.
