A 19th-Century lacquered-brass and black-enamelled double siren,
unsigned, possibly by Max Kohl, the gilt-lined black enamel iron stand supporting the finely engineered mechanism with two dials, each with silver face, the rear of the dial casing with bevelled glass viewing panel, the centre axis with upper and lower siren plates, with detachable nickel-brass dust covers, four spring release catches numbered 8, 10, 12, 18, the upper siren casing with rack gearing, winder with blued pointer and silvered dial reading 0-100, both siren casings connected by rubber tubing and deep green enamelled piping, contained in the original pine carrying case -- 20in. (50.8cm.) high
