A late 18th-Century lacquered-brass 2-inch refracting telescope,
signed on the 26in. (66.7cm.) long body-tube M. Berge London Late Ramsden, and further engraved When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou has ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitist him? Psalm VIII. ver. 3 4, with rack and pinion focusing, extension tube, dark shade, raised on a compass joint and tapering pillar tripod with extension bar, operated by rack and pinion adjustment, and folding tripod stand, the cabriole legs terminating in pad feet, contained in the original mahogany case -- 30in. (76.8cm.) wide
