A late 17th/early 18th-Century Bloud-type ivory azimuth diptych dial,
signed on the silver calendar volvelle Jacques Senecal a Dieppe, the elipse pierced and decorated with scrolls and an hour scale engraved VII-I/XII-V, the iron needle with brass cap, the lower surface of the compass box inscribed with the names and latitudes of various continental cities and towns, the inside of the lid with perpetual calendar scale and lunar volvelle, the horizontal plate with folding arm to support the lid, with latitude scale 0-80, the upper surface with 1-12 (X2) hour scale, one side with silver hook and eye to conceal the pin gnomon (missing), with two brass securing hooks and eyes -- 3.1/8in. (8cm.) long (the cover with old fatigue crack to ivory)
