unsigned, comprising a lacquered-brass graphometer (compass missing), a drum-shaped surveyor's cross with staff mounting, a spirit level, the brass case with iron base, a chain, a set of nine pegs, one with lead weight, an instrument staff mounting with ball and socket, all contained in a plush-lined oak case -- 20in. (51.4cm.) wide, with brass carrying handle, and the associated oak and brass tripod for the graphometer and surveyor's cross
