A rare early 19th-Century French slate rectangular sundial,
signed at the base A.B. 1820 and calculated for latitude 43 40', with iron solar apperture supported on two cylindrical columns, brass gnomon, the oval hour dial inscribed with an outer dial in Roman numerals, an inner dial in Arabic numerals, the outer dial engraved Alicante Couloum London Long..occ..2.26', further engraved on the inner dial Ile. J. dom. Lon. oc. 75 8', also engraved with a table of time with the months of the year, zodiac calendar, one side engraved Signes descendants and the other Signes ascendants -- 25in. (63.5cm.) long
