An unusual continental lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope,
unsigned, the body-tube with rack and pinion focusing, the eyepiece with dust slide, the limb mounted on a compass joint incorporating an eared stage with sprung slide holder, raised on a tapering pillar support with shaped base and swivel concave mirror, mounted on an ebonised plinth base with drawer, containing six ivory sliders, each with four specimens, a frog plate, bull's-eye condenser, pair of tweezers, forceps, a brass can containing mica discs, and a numbered set of six bead glass objectives (complete), contained in a fruitwood pyramid-shaped case with loop carrying ring, the interior lined with finely marbled paper, with two securing hooks and lugs -- 14in. (36.8cm.) high
