An unusual 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope,
unsigned, probably English, the body-tube located on an arm over the rectangular cross-section pillar with rack and pinion focusing for the eared stage, incorporating mountings for bull's-eye condenser, sub-stage condenser and other accessories, the lower limb with swivel mirror, mounted on a compass joint on a mahogany platform stand, when dismantled contained in a plush-lined fitted mahogany case with accessories, including two multiple bead glass objective sliders numbered 1-2 and 3-6, six ivory sliders, drum-shaped ivory box for mica discs and brass rings, forceps, specimen forceps and other items, with two brass hooks and eyes -- 7in.
