built by D. Staines with brass bound wood lagged brass cylinder 2in. bore x 2in. stroke, cylinder head lubricators, drain cocks, centrally mounted valve chest with separate steamways, studded stuffing box and pedestal type main stop valve, overmounted crankshaft and entablature supported on eight tapered columns with square headed castle nuts and four main bearings, the crosshead running in guides supported on the cylinder head and entablature, spoked flywheel and belt pulley, the metal floor, with pipework under, in turn supported on four turned parallel columns, wood plinth with brass plate engraved James Booths Rectilinear Engine 1843 Staines Bros London Scale 1:12 finished in green and polished brightwork -- 13 x 8in.
