Lot Essay

La jardinire au tablier and Le porteur d'oiseaux were originally modelled by Blondeau for Vincennes circa 1752. The factory produced the figures in glazed white porcelain with a pink tint added to enrich the flesh. The Svres factory later produced the models in three sizes out of biscuit porcelain. The present figures, examples of the largest size, can be dated circa 1760, as the incised F found on both stands for Maurice-Etienne Falconet, director of the atelier de sculpture from 1757-1766.
