Lot Essay

The painter's mark found on the present cup and saucer of a filled lozenge has been ascribed to an unidentifed bird painter active at Vincennes 1753-1756. See David Peters, Decorator and Date Marks on C18th Vincennes and Svres Porcelain, London, 1997, p. 87.
