The oval basket, domed cover, branch handle and oval stand with everted border reticulated overall in the flat trellis laced in blue, the rims enriched in gilt

The present chestnut basket and stand, the similar example in the Wadsworth Atheneum, or the bleu celeste and white example in the Wallace Collection may be the "marronnire 'filets Bleux'" purchased in 1760 by the dealer Sayde for 192 livres (Savill, op cit, p. 759.)
