TWO EARTHENWARE CENSORS
Meiji period, 19th century
One of ovoid form raised on three short feet, enameled and gilded with raised, shaped medallions of foliage, calligraphy and patterned designs all below a band of phoenix, with a pierced, metal crysanthemum form lid; a lobed form censor, gilded and enameled with alternating panels of immortals and dragons, the lid with scrolling foliage, base signed 'great Satsuma'.
