Chteau Latour--Vintage 1985
Pauillac, 1er cru class. Chteau-bottled
I might as well be partisan. 1985 is my favourite Bordeaux vintage of the '80s. The wines are dependable; they have balance and charm. Most are delicious now; all the top wines will keep. Latour not a heavyweight but rich, fleshy, fine. Last noted at Edmund Penning-Rowsell's 1985 first-growth dinner in June 1995. M.B.
