The arms are those of Dom Joaquim Xavier Botelho de Lima Tvora, (1717 - 1800). He became Archbishop of Evora and founder of the Evora Library. A pair of wine coolers from this service is illustrated by N. de Castro, op.cit., 1988, p.122, together with a 'Night and Day' plate with these arms, from a second service on p.123. A hot-water plate from this service was sold in these Rooms, 2 March 1976, lot 197; and a tureen and cover was sold in our Monaco Rooms, 22 June 1989, lot 92.
