Tasting note: A favourite of mine, and not because the grapes were being picked the very day Christie's new wine department was conducting its first sale. Overall, lean long distance runner though Latour anything but lean. Well over two dozen notes. Still opaque; nose dumb with much to come; massive and magnificent. Will last well into the next century. Last tasted in New York, October 1996. M.B.
