Marques de Riscal--Vintage 1945 Rioja. Bottled at the Bodega Tasting note: Black in colour and extremely aromatic with wonderful berry and mint aromas, it was full-bodied and tannic, with masses of fruit and flavour. The '45 had the polish of a 53-year-old wine, but still showed youthful and energetic character. Moreover it was a dead ringer for a first-growth such as Chteau Latour from the great vintages of the 1940's. James Suckling. Wine Spectator 31st July 1998.
