Property from the Estate of
DANNY KAYE AND SYLVIA FINE KAYE
He danced, he sang, he charmed, he clowned--on stage, in films, on TV. He's Hans Christian Andersen, Walter Mitty, The Kid From Brooklyn, The Court Jester. He's Danny Kaye. He flew jets, mastered Chinese cooking, owned a baseball team. He raised millions for musicians conducting orchestras, delighted the world's children as Ambassador-at-Large for UNICEF. He accepted Oscars, Peabodys, Emmys, the Kennedy Center Honors, received France's top culinary honor and honorary membership in the American College of Surgeons. Although his M.D.-status was unofficial, his gift to touch and lighten lives with laughter is an eternal remedy.
A classical pianist at age 8 who sold soup at Macy's during the depression, Sylvia Fine Kaye's talents as a lyricist, composer, writer and producer spanned many fields. Oscar-nominated, Emmy and Peabody awarded, she wrote intricate and brilliant songs Danny Kaye made famous. (Cole Porter asked her to write special lyrics for one of his songs). A musical maven, she taught the subject at Yale and at the University of California, as well as produced, wrote and hosted three PBS specials called "Musical Comedy Tonight".
Together they left a legacy of entertainment and philanthropy.
