A PAIR OF ITALIAN PINK-PAINTED AND PARCEL-GILT CANAPES EN CORBEILLE
Late 18th Century, Possibly Venetian
Each with moulded frame, shaped padded back, sides and seat upholstered in close-nailed blue fabric, the arched toprail and seat-rail above a plain moulded frieze and on spirally-turned tapering legs headed by foliate swags and upswept acanthus leaves and terminating in small bun feet, the central front leg of one canape with restored break, largely redecorated with traces of earlier decoration
