Spartacus/The Vikings
An assortment of props comprising: a mace, the rounded iron head with numerous section spikes, connected by a lined chain to the haft, the latter cast on either side with a stylised coat-of-arms and fleur-de-lys, with spiral grip -- possibly made for the 1960 Universal production Spartacus; a double-headed axe, the large crescentric blade artificially rust pitted and pierced with circular holes, on leather-bound wooden haft -- 34in. (86.3cm.) long -- possibly made for the 1958 United Artists' production The Vikings; a gold-painted metal helmet with neckguard and pointed skull; and a cuirass of horizontal metal plates with canvas straps -- both from unknown productions (4)
