(64.2cm.) long (end of cane broken off); and a press cutting concerning the late Robert Smales, a shoemaker in Tyne and Wear, stating that ...During his apprenticeship at Sunderland he repaired the boots used by Charlie Chaplin then appearing in a music hall in the town...; and a letter from a relative of Mr Smales purporting that when Chaplin came to collect his repaired boots ...he left his cane and never went back for it...
