A GERMAN COMMEMORATIVE SILVER COVERED COIN SET CUP, the rim stamped E. SCHURMANN & CO. FRANKFURT A/M, in the Mannerist taste, the rim of the molded cover engraved DES REICHES ABGELEGTE KRONE VERBLICHEN LAG DANIEDER BIE WILHELM ZOLLERNS GROSSER SOHN EIN HERRLICH REICH SCHUF WIEDER, cover interior with panel engraved with rulers (numbered) from 768--1888, (last Wilhelm II 1888--), each applied coin with corresponding number above for cover listing ruler's reign, the compressed circular bowl on baluster stem on raised circular base, the coins within chased and engraved flowers, strapwork, C scrolls and fruit, on finely matted ground, one stem knop applied four times with caryatid, the straight neck applied with enamelled shield, with corresponding city state engraved below, the cover topped by panelled finial (with further detached crown finial, lacking three coins)--16¾in. (42.5cm.) high, gross weight 66.5oz.
