Tobias and the Angel

The composition derives from Hendrick Goudt's engraving from 1608 after Elsheimer's small copper, now in the Historisches Museum, Frankfurt. Compared to the print, the figures in the present picture are less monumental and the curvaceous trees have been added in the landscape.
