Lot Essay

Ertz, loc. cit., includes this picture in his catalogue raisonn of de Momper's works, as a possibly autograph work, dating it to the 1620s. He notes that he had not examined the picture in person, and that the staffage seems to be by another hand. The composition of the landscape is a variant of a Winter landscape with mules (ibid., no. 427).
