A late Victorian brass quarter-chiming Directors' clock, circa 1883
The tesselated top with swag mounts and pineapple finials, the case with elaborated foliate cast openwork panels and similar sound frets, the front cast with cherub masks and with a winged cherub mount, with kite mark registration to the rear for design patented 20 August 1883, the dial with individual silvered circular Arabic chapters, strike/silent lever by 9 with inscription on the bezel and also signed on the bezel below PRIMAVESI BROS. BOURNEMOUTH, with gong/bell selection lever by 3, pierced and black painted hands, the substantial triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement quarter chiming on eight bells or four gongs and with hour strike on gong, pendulum holdfast to backplate (securing screw lacking) -- 28in. (72.5cm.) high
