An Edwardian carved oak quarter-chiming longcase clock, early 20th century
The breakarch hood with carved leopard head cresting and with carvings modelled as leopards' heads spouting fruit flanking the door, sound frets to the sides, the case elaborately carved to the front overall with conforming motifs, the gilt brass dial with engraved floral trellis spandrels to a silvered and engraved chapter ring applied with Arabic chapters, strike/silent lever by XII, conforming floral mount to the centre also with seconds ring, with chime/silent and Whittington/Westminster rings above, the arch with painted rolling alternating with a scene of sailing ships, the substantial three train movement with anchor escapement quarter chiming on eight tubular bells (lacking) and hour striking on a gong -- 101in. (256.5cm.) high
