A carved, painted and gilded frame, probably Italian, 19th Century the corners eared, with foliate swags hanging vertically from the two upper corners; each ear with protruding blocks inset with raised beads and connected with astragals to the sides; the centre of the upper side crested with flaming ball finial above a key-stone with recessed imbricated tongues, flanked by foliate swags; gilded bead-and-bar sight edge -- 12 x 8.5/8 x circa 2.3/8in.
