A rare pair of 18th-Century brass-bound boxwood and steel dividers,
unsigned, possibly by Georg Frederick Brander, with rack and pinion adjustment, the adjusting wheel engraved with a monogram, the boxwood arms reinforced with brass plates, pinned and connected to the hinged joint and compass point ends, each end with removable rectangular-section extending steel arms with vertical and horizontal pointers -- 12.1/8in. (31.5cm.) long, the opposite ends with chisel-shaped pointers, when closed the instrument pointers secured with a screw cap, the hinge pin with pin hole sight enabling the instrument to be used in either the horizontal or vertical plane, contained in the original fitted and shaped mahogany case with two brass hooks and eyes -- 15in. (40cm.) long
