the carved and gilded backing crested with a ram's head and flanked by swags of imbricated leaves; the clock below within a tied wreath of imbricated leaves surrounding it; the outer edge of the main shaft with beading and running fixed leaf with a further swag at the bottom; the thermometre, (damaged) with a painted floral wreath -- 27in. (68.6cm.) high.
