Each oval back crested by an anthemion and with husk surround, the downscrolled arms carved with pendant husks, with serpentine padded seat and fluted seatrail on turned foliate-carved legs with reeded toes, upholstered in pink silk brocaded with gold and silver metal thread (re-gilt) (2)

These armchairs belong to a larger suite of seat furniture. A set of four matching armchairs was sold in these Rooms, 14-15 October 1994, lot 41, and a pair of matching sofas was sold Sotheby's London, 17 November 1987, lot 79.
