La Saincte Bible en francois, translatee selon la pure et entiere traduction de Sainct Hierome, par J[aques] le Fvre d'Estaples, d'Anvers, pour Ant. De La Haye, demourant au pan (sic) de Nostre Dame, 1541. 2 parts in one volume, 2, title and contents printed in red and black, double columm, text printed in Gothic type, title within large historiated woodcut border, numerous woodcuts, decorated and historiated initials (large repair to verso of title page, first few leaves heavily stained at the top right, some staining affecting various leaves), 18th century calf, gilt ruled margins, spine gilt in compartments, red morocco lettering piece (slightly worn and marked). cf. Third printing of the complete folio edition of Jacques Lefevre d'Etaple's French version, first printed by Martin L'Empereur (De Keysere) 1530, and reprinted by him 1534. This 1541 edition reprints the Imperial Privilege of the latter; dated 21 November 1533. Its extensive repertory of woodcuts is also taken over from the earlier editions. The Creation cut of six compartments within a Renaissance border has been attributed to the Dutch artist Jan Swart.
