Harrison recommends a young man for the Navy. "Mr. Reuben R. Pinkham, the son of a highly respectable Republican Citizen of this state, is desirous of obtaining the situation of Midshipman in the Navy. He is a young gentleman of an excellent character & disposition & of a studious nature. His acquirements are calculated for the situation he solicits, & I beg... most respectfully to recommend him to your notice & patronage..."
