MORLEY, CHRISTOPHER. Autograph manuscript signed of a journal/diary and notebook kept primarily during his senior year at Haverford College and his first year as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. Haverford, Oxford, and other places, 31 January 1907 - 19 June 1911. Approximately 176 pages, 4to, in ink on lined sheets in a notebook, cloth-backed marbled boards, spine lacking and binding broken, a few leaves apparently removed by Morley; signed by him on label on front cover: "Chrisotpher D. Morley Haverford College, Jan. 31st, 1907 1910"; also signed by him on a few of the notebook leaves. The journal, kept irregularly from 21 July 1909 - 19 June 1911, comprises 113 pages and records Morley's intellectual and literary development (he had just turned 19 when he began the journal), his social life, travels, and college life at Haverford and Oxford; a few pages contain early verse by him. In addition some 63 pages are primarily devoted to reading and lecture notes in early English literature and nineteen-century English literature.
