Kings and Queens of England, c.1731, by Jean Dassier, a complete set of thirty three medals in damascened bronze, depicting the monarchs from William I to George II, each medal 41mm., except for that of Oliver Cromwell which is 38mm. (thus emphasising the fact that Cromwell was not king), the obverses with portraits of the monarchs, the reverses with representations of their tombs, with the exception of the reverse of the medal for George II which bears a fourteen line dedication, the relief on the obverses and reverses, with the exception of the medallist's name, heavily gilt, probably with gold leaf, the edges also gilt, all in extremely fine condition, this most attractive set of damascened bronze medals is probably unique
