Lot Essay

The Katsushika-ren was a large group of poets headed by Bumbunsha Kagikomaru. Members of the group employed the the character "bun"
in their names, seen here on the wrapping cloth held by the woman on the right sheet. The crabs (kagi) on the left sheet are emblematic of Bumbunsha, whose personal name translates as "Little crab".
