The letter written on behalf of a convict, from his employer to the Chief Constable of Campbelltown includes "He had only left us a few days when he was apprenhended, tried and sent to Port Arthur. We did not consider him a bad man and if the government should think of mitigating his sentence I should have no objection of again taking him to my service as a pass holder or otherways.".
