A Victorian five-piece tea and coffee service,
and matching two-handled oval tray, comprising: tea pot; coffee pot, (with mesh bag); hot water jug; milk jug; and sugar bowl; with egg shaped bodies, bead borders and pedestal bases, decorated with a chased frieze of trailing flowers on a matt ground below the rim, an oval cartouche on one side, monogrammed and a portrait medallion on the other, the tray similarly decorated and engraved with a border of foliate scrolls, the centre inscribed "Presented to William Holloway Esq. C.S.J. late of the Madras Civil Service and Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Madras, as a farewell token of esteem by some members of the service, who take pride in the lustre which has been shed upon it, by his great talents and learning and his distinguished career", by Messrs Walker & John Barnard, 1876/7, (contained in a fitted and lined travelling case), the tray - 72cm long, 204.5oz.
