EDO/MEIJI PERIOD (MID 19TH CENTURY), SIGNED CHINKO SEI AND SEALED

Of high-shouldered ovoid form with cylindrical neck ending in a wide, flat lip, decorated in thick, rich enamels and gilt with large overlapping chrysanthemums above a brocade fence below a wide collar of paulownia and chrysanthemum sprays on cobalt grounds, the ground of the body cream crackle glaze dotted with gilt clouds, incorrectly inscribed date on base for Koka period (1844-1848)- 11 3/4 in. (29.8 cm.) high
