(EARLY 20TH CENTURY), SIGNED YASUTOMO (HOYU)

Modelled as a shishimai 'lion dance' dancer draped in a voluminous green robe and wearing the oversized lion head with hinged lower jaw, the face of the dancer visible when the jaws parted, ear and horn of the lion inlaid in mother of pearl, details etched and stained dark and lion head colored red, signed on a red lacquer plaque on base of drum- 2 in. (5 cm.) high
