The first of ivory carved as a large conch shell over which crawl three tiny monkeys, smaller shells carved on the underside below the small himotoshi, signed on one of the small shells Hoshin, the surface of the shell etched with short lines and stained dark; the second netsuke of wood carved as a miniature tobacco pouch and pipe inlaid with a colored ivory 'manju netsuke' and inlaid gilt metal clasp cast in the form of a monkey, himotoshi at the back--1 7/8 in.
