MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), SEALED DORAKU
Of rectangular shape fitted with two hinged doors, carved in sunken relief in the interior with the Buddha enshrined on a lotus pedestal with two Bodhisattvas, each on one of the doors, the exterior of the case well carved in shallow relief with budding lotus in a swirling stream, soft metal mounts cast in the form of butterflies-- 4 1/2 x 3 x 1 in. (11.4 x 7.7 x 2.2 cm.), minor edge nicks and slight hairline crack
