MOMOYAMA THROUGH LATE EDO PERIODS (CIRCA 1575 - CIRCA 1850)

A Kyo-Heianjo guard of kiku form and inlaid with brass hon-zogan (inlay missing), circa 1575; a yamagane sukashi guard pierced with spokes, circa 1575; a tachi kanguchi yamagane guard, mokko and pierced with stylized forms, circa 1500; a reshaped guard, originally round, but reheated and hammered into a smaller, cruciform guard, Kyoto, circa 1700; a Mito Shoami mokko guard with rim in the form of a riding crop and applied with abumi, snaffle bits, crop and wan fan, circa 1850; all unsigned; heights 7.8, 6.8, 5.1, 7.3, 8.3 cm; together with a pair of shakudo nanako fuchi-kashira applied with gilt mon, unsigned (7)
