A KYO-SUKASHI IRON TSUBA
EARLY EDO PERIOD (17TH CENTURY)
Circular, the guard is pierced with radiating spokes and between each spoke are two levels of stylized birds (probably chidori) in flight, the upper forming the rim, unsigned, diameter 7.6 cm; together with a Kamiyoshi style iron tsuba pierced at the rim with four sets of three loops and applied in gilt hira-zogan on both sides with
stylized flowerheads and vines, unsigned, 17th/18th century, height 7.8 cm. Silk storage bag (3)
