Oval and with a thin, sharp rim in imitation of a fukurin, the guard is carved with massed flowers in gilt and shakudo, unsigned, height 7.1 cm

This style of guard has traditionally been attributed to the Mino School, but research has shown that Soten may possibly be a better attribution.
