This work was executed by Alexander Calder circa 1960 as a gift for Mrs. Elsie Healey, owner of the Dragondell Kennels in Morris, Connecticut. It was originally conceived to fit on top of the kennel's mailbox, in order to make the long wooded driveway more recognizable for Calder when he boarded his dogs there.
