of good gauge, the 'extended' baluster seal with two fluted sections, pricked "H.P." on the terminal, makers mark C enclosing R* 1598 - 16.5cm long, 2oz.

This spoon was made by a competant spoon-maker, perhaps Richard Cotton, as few spoon-makers with these initials fit in for this date. Kent suggests "his mark (Richard Cotton's) may be RC in an oblong".
