Lot Essay

Both ateliers of Linke and Zwiener were likely to produce the offered bureau and were known to incorporate fine painted decoration with bronze-mounted cabinetry, see D. Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ebenistes du XIXe Sicle, 1984, pl. XIV.

The coat-of-arms on the offered lot is that of the house of Turinetti di Priero.

This piece most probably dates from the turn-of-the-century. In view of the finely cast armorial mount, it is likely that this bureau de dame was commissioned by Alfonso Turinetti di Priero (b.1855) on the occasion of his marriage in 1899 to his cousin Camilla.
