A Silver Plate Yachting Trophy ca. 1890
Wilcox Silverplate, American, 19th century
In the form of a soup tureen, on raised feet and with decorative floral motif around the lip. In addition, the trophy has two handles in the form of lobsters, and six raised plaques, three of which are engraved. The engraving reads as follows: OPEN REGATTA Aug. 15. 1892. GREENVILLE YACHT CLUB Won By YACHT GESSO. Other details include flowers between the raised plaques and an etched bouquet of flowers on the interior of the trophy.
