Henry Wheeling de Forest and Julia Noyes de Forest were neighbors of Louis Comfort Tiffany at his Long Island residence, Laurelton Hall. Mr. de Forest's brother was Lockwood de Forest, the influential artist who formed part of Associated Artists, Louis Comfort Tiffany's interior decorating business. Another brother was Robert de Forest, the fifth president of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A lawyer by profession, Henry de Forest was also very involved in New York philanthropies and served as the president of the New York Botanical Garden from 1928 to 1937.
