cover 1852, 13c Blue, "H.I. & U.S. Postage" Hawaiian "Missionary" (4), type II, large margins to partly into left frameline, repaired at top right, used in combination with United States 3c Dull Red (11), horizontal pair, margins to slightly in, right stamp repaired (top right corner replaced), the U.S. stamps were pasted-over the Hawaiian "Missionary" (which is uncancelled) when all the stamps were applied in Honolulu on this very fresh 1854 Pogue-Fiske correspondence pale blue cover to Persia care of Missionary House in Boston, Mass., red "HONOLULU*U.S. Postage Paid*NOV 29" c.d.s. of origin, the U.S. stamps were postmarked "San Francisco, CAL. Jan 1" upon arrival, 1854 ms. docketing on front of cover, the Hawaiian "Missionary" has subsequently been lifted and repositioned below the U.S. pair for display purposes, it paid both the 5c Hawaiian postage and the 2c ship fee, it was most likely carried on the ship T.H. Allen which left Honolulu on Dec. 2nd and arrived in San Francisco on Dec. 23rd., the U.S. stamps paid the U.S. transcontinental rate of 6c to Boston (for over 3,000 miles), from then on it was carried privately by fellow missionaries by both ship and overland to Oroomiah, Persia,
